Free Approach Beanie - 100% Merino Wool

Why did we choose 100% merino wool?

Merino wool has become a benchmark technical fiber in the outdoor world.

Its natural properties distinguish it from all other fibers:

Skin comfort : extra-fine fiber (18.5 microns) that does not scratch, suitable for sensitive skin.

Thermoregulating : Keeps you warm in cold weather and remains breathable when it's hot.

Moisture absorption : up to 30% of its weight in water without feeling damp. Gradually wicks away perspiration to keep skin dry.

Odor-resistant : naturally neutralizes bacteria, allows for wear for several days without washing.

Eco-friendly : 100% natural, biodegradable fiber sourced from certified responsible farms, guaranteeing wool quality and animal welfare. (Certified non-mulesing and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 supply chains)

FAQ

Where does merino wool come from?

Appearing in Spain as a result of crossbreeding, the merino sheep has been renowned since the Middle Ages for its exceptionally fine and soft wool.

A few animals were introduced to Australia (1788) and then to South Africa (1795), but it was mainly during the 19th century that livestock farming developed on a large scale. These vast territories then became the new homes of merino, renowned for producing wool of unrivaled quality.

Why choose merino wool over a synthetic hat?

Merino wool is finer than traditional wool, and its natural structure traps air, providing excellent thermal insulation. It absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet, and then gradually wicks away perspiration. Unlike synthetic fibers, the keratin in wool limits bacterial growth, preventing odors even after repeated use.

Is this hat itchy?

No. Merino fiber is ultra-fine, soft, and comfortable against the skin. You can wear it all day without discomfort.

One size fits all, does it fit everyone?

Yes. The knit pattern provides elasticity, allowing it to fit most adult sizes (approximately 52 to 62 cm). The hat stays in place in all weather conditions without being too tight.

What are the certifications and guarantees of our wool?

Our wool is certified:

Non-mulesing : wool sourced from farms that respect animal welfare.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100: The wool and textile components (yarns, dyes, labels, seams) used in the making of our Approche Libre hats come from supply chains certified according to this international standard. This independent label guarantees the absence of harmful substances among more than 300 tested chemicals (pesticides, heavy metals, azo dyes, etc.), including according to the strictest criteria (Class I – textile safety suitable for sensitive skin and children).

Where does our merino wool come from?

Our wool comes from farms in South Africa and Australia.

All these sectors are certified and rigorously comply with our requirements in terms of quality and animal welfare .

How to maintain it?

Hand wash or machine wash (wool cycle ≤30°C, gentle spin). Dry flat. Avoid fabric softener and tumble drying to preserve the fibers.
